KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:

We open for the 2024 season March 1st! Tours and rentals are available to BOOK for the 2024 season.

It is a very good idea to reserve ahead especially in peak season we do tend to sell out daily. Easiest way to book is on our website. Feel free to call us for same day availability

Our address is 836 Vista Ave, Page Arizona 86040. We are in downtown Page. We ARE NOT located on the water. Lake Powell is inside the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. After checking in at our shop you must drive yourselves into the Park which is about 15-minutes away.

To get into the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area you must purchase a pass at the park entry gate. The fee is $30.00 per vehicle and is good for 7 days unless you have a National Park Annual “America the Beautiful” Pass. This fee is NOT included with rentals or tours. So be prepared to pay at the lake entrance.

Wind is our biggest weather related issue here so always check the weather before you go! Click here for more weather information. We are in the high desert at about 4500 ft of elevation, so our normal temperatures can range from the low 100’s in summer to the low 20’s in winter. We are usually about 10 degrees cooler than Phoenix or Las Vegas due to our altitude. Our summers are very hot and dry. We can have snow in winter.

CHECK THE WEATHER! You will get wet! Quick dry workout out type clothing is best. No cotton! Dress in layers! We do have a rocky environment and you will want to protect your feet with sturdy footwear. A hat, sunscreen and sunglasses to protect you from the sun.  We do rent wetsuits and splash gear in the colder months.

Food, water, and sun protection! Things do get wet and the lake is very deep, so don’t drop anything! It is best to have everything contained in a dry bag. We recommend wearing your sunglasses with a tether (especially those with prescriptions).  We do sell sunscreen, dry bags, floating phone cases, sunglass tethers and other things you may need for a day on the lake.

SAFETY:

Yes, they are included with all rentals and tours. You must have a life jacket with you at all times and anyone 13 and under must wear it the entire time while paddling-by law. We have adult, child sizes and even have some for dogs! Leashes are also included with paddleboards and must be worn.

The National Park Service regulations require all operators 13 years of age or older to have a Type III adult USCG-approved life jacket (also known as Personal Flotation Device or PFD) either attached to the vessel or worn at all times. All children under 13 years old are required to wear a USCG-approved life jacket at all times while on the water! Life jackets are included with the rentals and tours. Paddleboard leashes are required to be worn at all times and are included.

We have boards and kayaks that can accommodate up to a 250 lb individual. We reserve the right to cancel any rental or tour if we feel the safety of you or another person is at risk. As long as you can physically get yourself back onto the vessel you are good to go! Keep in mind the lake is very deep and sometimes you do not have the assistance of being on shore to get back onto your vessel. A larger person may be more comfortable using a double kayak which will offer more floatation and stability so please let us know if you would like that option. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Not at all! Our professional instructors will have you up and paddling in no time. Our rental boards are very stable and wide and it doesn’t take long to get your balance and you’ll soon be walking on water! We will give you a lesson here at the shop before you go. Here are some how-to videos to help you too.

Just keep in mind that falling in the water is possible, so just be prepared in case you do. Our instructors can show you how easy it is to get back “on-board”.  There are no lifeguards here so be smart and plan accordingly. Remember, paddling out is voluntary-paddling back is mandatory so know your limits.  Please read our safety tips here.

ABOUT THE LAKE:

No, you will be on a flat lake. Wind and boat wakes will be the only issues with the water so you want to check the weather before paddling. The canyon itself is a no wake zone, but the main channel can get choppy if there is a lot of boat traffic or wind. It is usually more calm in the mornings.

No. There are no biting fish, leeches, sharks, alligators, or other nasty things, just mussels, bass, trout, and some other river fish. Just watch for mussels on the rocks underwater- they are sharp. You will want to have shoes on when walking on the shore due to loose rocks, tumbleweed thorns, and very hot sand.

You will encounter boats and other watercrafts on the lake that can create boat wakes. Our crew can teach you an easy way to deal with any boat wakes so please ask if you have questions. Our boards and kayaks are very wide and stable so it’s not usually an issue. We only rent sit-on-top kayaks here for safety reasons.

PADDLING HORSESHOEBEND/COLORADO RIVER:

OTHER:

No, but here is everything you need to know about how to kayak Horseshoe Bend on your own.

Yes, you can! You can rent a Page, Arizona kayak rental (or paddleboard rental) from our shop and do the trip on your own, but you will need to make prior arrangements to get back-hauled up the river by a separate company. We have car racks for you to use to take them. IMPORTANT! Due to the distance, remoteness, and frigid water, this should only be done by experienced paddleboarders, DO NOT do this if you are a beginner paddler for safety reasons. NOTE: You can not put in at the Glen Canyon Dam due to Homeland Security so you will need to get back-hauled up the river by boat to the dam. From there you will paddle down the river about 16 miles to Lee’s Ferry-but you must make reservations ahead for the service. The river is about 47 degrees all year long so don’t plan on swimming! You can contact our friends at Kelly Outfitters at Lee’s Ferry to make arrangements for the back-haul. Horseshoe Bend is part of the Colorado River.

We do not deliver to Lee’s Ferry. Complimentary car racks are available for you to transport your gear to the river.
